Equinor and Polenergia will celebrate International Wind Day together with the residents of Redzikowo
One turn of the rotor of an offshore wind turbine generates energy that is enough for one household for four days – this information a.o. will be available on June 15 during the Day of the Redzikowo Residents, combined with the celebration of International Wind Day. During this event, Equinor and Polenergia will share information with participants about the Baltic offshore wind farms under construction. We invite you to our stand in the Water Park in Redzikowo.
Participation in this important event for the local community is an expression of our commitment to the life of the Commune and a form of dialogue with its residents. We invite adults, as well as children and teenagers. At our stand, everyone will find attractions that will bring knowledge about offshore wind energy. So there will be a wheel of fortune, competitions, coloring books, or assembling models of windmills. In the form of a game, we want to bring information about renewable energy sources and the opportunities and benefits of offshore wind energy development in the Baltic Sea.
We also treat our participation in this celebration as another opportunity to meet with residents - we organize them regularly to facilitate access to up-to-date information on the implementation of offshore wind farm projects in the Baltic Sea along with the infrastructure used to evacuate power. This time, the opportunity to listen to the voices of the local community will be the annual holiday of the Residents of the Redzikowo Commune, which falls on International Wind Day. It was established in 2007 by the European Wind Energy Association and the World Wind Energy Council to promote and transfer knowledge about wind energy and the benefits of renewable energy.
On 15 June, our representatives will provide information on projects in the field of current works, investment schedules, and details of the onshore connection infrastructure. We will also answer your questions and clarify any doubts related to the investment.
The investments we are implementing are an important part of the green transformation of the Polish energy sector, which assumes the construction of 18 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040. Among them are our three Baltic wind farms with a total capacity of up to 3,000 MW. The renewable energy produced by them will power over four million Polish households.
The two most advanced projects: Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 - each with a capacity of 720 MW - will be located at the height of Łeba, at a distance of about 37 and 22 km from the shore. The farms are scheduled to be launched in 2027. The third wind farm Bałtyk 1 with a capacity of 1560 MW, which is to be built in the second phase of the development of Polish offshore wind, will be located approx. 81 km from the coastline, also at the level of Łeba. Energy from offshore farms will flow via cables to shore to connection points at the Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne substations in Wierzbięcin and Krzemienica in the Redzikowo commune. The onshore infrastructure corridor will run underground through the municipalities of Ustka and Redzikowo so as to preserve the tourist and landscape values of these areas.
