A unique training program for students

"Setting the Course for Offshore" training program is dedicated to students of technical schools, classes specializing in renevable energy. Program participants are the winners of the competition "My Future with Offshore Wind", organized in invited schools in accordance with the program organizers' requirements.

The program is practical in nature and is delivered by managers and experts from the offshore industry. Participants gain unique insights about offshore wind farm projects, visit companies involved in their development, meet leading organizations and experienced representatives of the offshore industry. The training develops the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of employees in the offshore wind energy sector, outlines career development paths, and enables participants to assess their own aptitude for professions related to offshore wind energy and renewable energy.

The program is implemented in partnership with Pomeranian Employers, Polish Offshore Wind Industry Chamber, Rumia Invest Park, and the Pomeranian Offshore Wind Energy Competence Center.

Program schedule

Session I – The Baltic Sea. A Sea of Green Energy
8 January 2026
Maritime Culture Centre, Gdańsk

The opening session of the program was held at the Maritime Culture Centre of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. The participants presented their competition projects entitled ‘My Future with Offshore Wind’.Organizers and partners of the program presented their activities. At the exhibition “The Baltic Sea. A Sea of Green Energy”, hosted by Equinor and Polenergia, the students were introduced to the history and environment of offshore wind energy, the offshore wind farms construction process, and the implementation of the Bałtyk offshore wind projects the exhibition “The Baltic Sea. A Sea of Green Energy”, hosted by Equinor and Polenergia.

Session II – GWO Basic Safety Training
16 January 2026
IM Training Education and Training Centre, Gdynia

Safety is a top priority for Equinor and Polenergia, for the Bałtyk projects, and for the offshore wind industry as a whole. The first practical training session was held at the Inter Marine Education and Training Centre and focused on GWO BST – Basic Safety Training. The programme included training modules in FA (First Aid), WAH (Working at Heights), MH (Manual Handling) and FA (Fire Awareness). In addition, courses in BTT (Bolt Tightening Training) and ART (Advanced Rescue Training) were presented. Participation in the session allowed students to experience the scope of certification training required for employees in the offshore industry.

Session III – Offshore expert panel
12 February 2026
Pomeranian Employers, Gdańsk

During the Offshore Expert Panel, students explored the realities of the offshore wind energy sector from the perspective of industry practitioners thanks to representatives of Equinor, Polenergia, the Polish Offshore Wind Energy Chamber, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Hitachi Energy, Seaway7, and MEWO. The meeting presented global and Polish development scenarios as well as future trends in offshore wind energy.

Students also learned about available career paths and employment prospects in the offshore sector, including opportunities at the Operations and Maintenance Base for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects in Łeba. The panel provided an opportunity to gain specialist knowledge directly from experienced managers and experts in the offshore wind industry.

Session IV - Study visit to MEWO
25 February 2026

Experts from MEWO took participants on a fascinating journey into the depths of the Morze Bałtyckie. They have presented the company’s scope of activities, methods used to study the marine environment and seabed, as well as how they analyze the data and what can be conducted from it. The presentation of specialized research equipment, and its practical applications, was one of the most engaging elements of the visit

Participants also visited the company’s workshop and warehouse, where they learned how the equipment is constructed, prepared for fieldwork, serviced, and stored between successive research expeditions. Thanks to this, they also saw how work looks like from a practical point of view, how long the processes take and how to prepare form them. The visit helped them better understand the importance of environmental research for offshore projects and gain insight into everyday work at a dynamically developing company in the marine sector.

Session V - Study visit to Mostostal Pomorze S.A.
5 March 2026
Mostostal Pomorze SA, Gdańsk

Participants of the Setting the Course for Offshore program visited Mostostal Pomorze, where they learned about the scope of activities of a company delivering fabrication projects for the offshore sector worldwide. During the presentations, company representatives discussed topsides structures and secondary steel components for offshore wind farms, including components manufactured for projects led by Equinor. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about the production process, modern steel processing technologies used at the facility. The impressive scale of the company’s operations, as well as the size and tonnage of the components manufactured for offshore projects made a particularly strong impression on the visitors.

Session VI - Study visit to Baltic Towers
16 March 2026
Baltic Towers, Gdańsk

The study visit to the Baltic Towers allowed the participants to take a look behind the scenes of the most modern tower factory in Europe, designed and functioning in the Industry 4.0 model. The students got acquainted with the scope and principles of the company's activities, and during the workshop on entering the labor market, they gained many valuable tips on building a career in the offshore sector.

The practical part was very impressive – passing through the production hall and following the technological process – from cutting sheet metal to preparing the tower sections ready for shipment to installation ports and wind farms. An unusual opportunity to see advanced production and conversations with the company's representatives allowed the students to feel the specifics of working in the industry and discover real opportunities for development in the offshore wind sector.

Session VII – Study visit to Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia
10.04.2026
Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia
Students participating in the “Setting the Course for Offshore” program visited Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia – a company operating, among others, in the offshore sector. The visit began with a presentation on the company’s activities and ongoing projects, with a particular focus on structures for offshore wind energy. The participants learned about production processes and the requirements related to the manufacturing of advanced components such as offshore transformer stations and boat landings — structures that enable access to turbines from CTV vessels.
The next stage was a visit to the production halls, preceded by health and safety training and the provision of personal protective equipment to the students. The participants had the opportunity to observe the production process and take part in workshops at the welding training center, where they were introduced to methods of weld quality verification, non-destructive testing (NDT), and working with technical documentation. The meeting concluded with a conversation with members of the management team, who presented career development opportunities in the offshore industry.

Sesja VIII – Workshops in CNK New Competence Center
