Meeting with residents of the Słupsk Commune

The pace of energy transformation in Poland and the impact of investments in offshore wind farms on it were the main topics of the meeting with the inhabitants of the Słupsk Commune. Its participants also asked about the Baltic 2 and Baltic 3 projects, including the route of the cable connecting the sea and land parts of offshore farms. It was another information meeting organized by Equinor and Polenergia as part of consultations and dialogue with the local community.

During the meeting in Bruskowo Wielkie, the residents of the Słupsk Commune learned about planned investments in offshore wind farms Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3. Both projects, with a combined capacity of approx. 1440 MW, will supply almost 2 million households with renewable energy. This is a significant contribution to the ongoing energy transformation in Poland, under which it is expected to build at least 18 GW of capacity in Polish maritime areas by 2040.

During the meeting, residents received the most important information about the projects, including the scope of currently carried out works, investment schedule, details of onshore connection infrastructure, benefits and impact of offshore wind farms on the development of the region, and career prospects in the offshore wind energy industry.

Representatives of the companies answered numerous questions from residents and listened to opinions and comments on planned investments and connection infrastructure, which is an integral part of offshore wind farms. The corridor with an underground cable will run through the towns of Pęplino, Lędowo, and Duninowo in the Ustka Commune and Bruskowo Wielkie, Bruskowo Małe and Wielichowo in the Słupsk Commune to the existing Transmission System Operator (pl: Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne) station in Wierzbięcin.

Meetings with the inhabitants of the Słupsk region take place as part of the dialogue conducted by Equinor and Polenergia with the local community. Previous meetings took place in Ustka and Łeba. It is in Łeba that a service and operational base will be built to service the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms. On one of the main streets of Łeba, Equinor and Polenergia launched the "Information Centre on offshore wind farms Bałtyk". This is the first year-round information and educational point in Poland about offshore wind energy.

Regular meetings with the local community, such as the one in Bruskowo, are organized by investors to update the residents' knowledge about the progress of work on implemented projects and to maintain a systematic dialogue with them.
