Information meetings for fishermen: second application call for compensation
Equinor and Polenergia invite fishermen to information meetings on the second call for applications under the transitional compensation system for fishing vessel owners. The meetings will take place between 17 and 19 March 2026, in Łeba, Ustka, and Jarosławiec.
The transitional compensation system was launched by the companies in 2025 to provide support to fishermen whose fishing activities may be restricted due to the construction of the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms and the power grid connection route. The system will remain in force throughout the construction period or until the state introduces such assistance a similar support mechanism.
Applications are accepted each year according to a schedule and cover the construction period, i.e., 2025-2028. The first call for applications – for 2025 – was launched in September 2025 and will remain open until June 2026.
Since January of this year, eligible fishermen can submit applications in the second call for applications – for 2026. The rules remain unchanged – owners of commercial fishing vessels can apply for compensation:
• engaged in fishing activities in 2018-2024 in fishing squares: L5, L6, L7, L8, M7, M8, N7, N8
or
• registered and stationed in the ports of Jarosławiec, Ustka, Rowy, Łeba, even if they do not have a fishing history in the above-mentioned area.
A prerequisite for applying for compensation is having a special fishing permit for the year to be covered by the support mechanism. Applications for the second call for proposals will be accepted until the end of September 2026.
For owners of recreational vessels, the companies have proposed one-off payments under the first call for applications. Applications can be submitted until June 2026.
In March, representatives of Equinor and Polenergia will explain the rules of the system and the schedule for applications. As during last year's meetings, shipowners will be able to obtain assistance in completing the documents and submit their applications on site with the support of advisors. The meeting will also be an opportunity to present information on the progress of work on the Bałtyk projects.
