Over 28 thousand people learned the secrets of offshore wind energy at the Equinor and Polenergia exhibition in Gdańsk

For a year now, visitors to the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk have been able to see the only exhibition in Poland devoted to the secrets of offshore wind farms. The exhibition, prepared by Equinor and Polenergia, is a strong point on the tourist map of Gdańsk at the beginning of the next holiday season.

On the third floor of the Maritime Culture Centre in Gdańsk, you can take an extraordinary journey into the world of green energy of the Baltic Sea. The exhibition presents the process of wind formation, the history of its use and the potential of the Baltic Sea in the context of offshore wind energy. At the centre of the exhibition is an interactive mock-up that presents the successive stages of the construction of offshore wind farms – from planning through construction, operation and maintenance. Visitors can see exhibits such as: fragments of export cables, Offshore Substations fan or models of installation ships.

The exhibition "Baltic Sea. A Sea of Green Energy" also promotes an ecological attitude in everyday life. The authors invite you to reflect on the condition of our planet and write down wishes for the Earth on specially prepared cards. With the help of a multimedia screen, visitors can learn how to save energy at home and choose the most environmentally friendly light source.

An integral part of the exhibition is the educational zone, where workshops, lectures and thematic classes are held by the museum's educators and experts from Equinor and Polenergia. For the youngest, there are, among others, a model of the sustainable energy production ecosystem made of LEGO bricks, an educational quiz, special simulators that allow you to feel the strength of the wind and a station for making your own artworks. The offer is used by numerous school groups and families with children.

In April 2025, the exhibition was visited by special guests – Prince Haakon, the heir to the throne of Norway, together with representatives of the Government of Norway. The Prince stressed the importance of Polish-Norwegian cooperation for the energy transition in Poland. For the delegation, it was also an opportunity to learn more about the Bałtyk 1, Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farm projects.

Equinor and Polenergia are jointly developing offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. In May, the companies made final investment decisions (FID) regarding the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects, starting the construction phase, and secured financing for these projects. About 30 financial institutions were involved in financing the projects, and the total value of investments exceeded EUR 6 billion. This is the largest project finance transaction  in the history of the Polish energy sector.

The exhibition of Equinor and Polenergia awaits visitors in the Maritime Culture Centre, right next to the Crane on the Motława River. It can be viewed from Tuesday to Sunday during the opening hours of the museum, at 21/25 Tokarska Street in Gdańsk.

Information about the exhibition can also be found on the website of the Maritime Culture Centre of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk: https://nmm.pl/osrodek-kultury-morskiej/.
