Registration for the next Supplier Day series for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects is now open
Equinor and Polenergia are constantly developing their supply chain. Together with the main suppliers of foundations for offshore wind farm projects, Bałtyk 2 and 3 are looking for suppliers at this stage of project implementation. On 25th November, the Gdansk Entrepreneurship Incubator Starter will host another Supplier Day series, which will make it easier for domestic companies to access the offshore wind market and win contracts. Registration for this event has just started.
The Supplier Day is a unique series of face-to-face meetings aimed at building relationships and integrating large international companies, i.e. major suppliers of specific components of offshore wind farms, with Polish companies in the field of specific procurement packages.
This time, the event focuses on the foundations of offshore wind farm turbines. The main contractors for this element are Sif Group, Smulders and Heerema, which will be responsible for the production, transport and installation of foundations for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms built jointly by Equinor and Polenergia.
Participants will be able not only to learn about the current schedule of Bałtyk projects, but also about the schedule and procurement process of implementing the foundations. Suppliers will have the opportunity to establish direct contact with representatives of Polish companies and other market participants to discuss potential partnerships. During the shared sessions, representatives of Polish companies will be able to learn about the technical, operational, purchasing and employee safety and environmental requirements essential for the implementation of projects.
The Dutch company Sif Group and the Belgian company Smulders are among the leading suppliers of steel structures for the offshore wind energy sector. They specialize in the production of large-size steel elements, such as monopiles and transition pieces including supporting elements. In the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects, Sif Group and Smulders are responsible for the prefabrication of these two elements.
Heerema, on the other hand, is a Dutch engineering and construction company that is a leader in offshore wind engineering. The company offers services related to the installation, transport and disassembly of large-size offshore structures in projects.
In the implementation of these tasks, investors, Equinor and Polenergia, as well as suppliers Sif Group, Smulders and Heerema want the largest possible participation of Polish partners – suppliers of products and services – necessary for the construction of wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Supplier Day is intended to make it easier for those interested in cooperation to enter the offshore market and join the global supply chain.
The event will take place on November 25 at 10.00 a.m. in the Gdansk Entrepreneurship Incubator Starter at 3b Lęborska Street.It is necessary to register in advance using the form that can be found at the link: Registration form.
The meeting is intended for companies whose products and services fall within the following scopes:
- Steel structures (mainly welding and assembly) of ladders, railings and platforms;
- Surface protection (paint, metallization and other coatings);
- Electrical components e.g. lighting, switches, panels, cable containments, delivery and installation;
- Accompanying and maintenance services (e.g. non-destructive testing (NDT) and quality control);
- Installation and connection of transition pieces;
- Transport and installation of monopiles;
- Noise monitoring and reduction;
The Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms, with a total capacity of 1440 MW, will be located in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea, at a distance of 22 to 37 km from the coastline. The Bałtyk offshore wind farms will be connected to the PSE Słupsk-Wierzbięcino substation. The onshore corridor of connection infrastructure, about 14 km long, will run through the municipalities of Ustka and Słupsk. The first energy from the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects is expected to flow to the grid as early as 2027. The commercial stage of their use is planned from 2028.
The project of the third largest offshore wind farm, Bałtyk 1 – with a capacity of up to 1560 MW – is being prepared for the auction in 2025. All three Bałtyk investments carried out by Equinor and Polenergia will supply a total of over 4 million households with green energy.
We invite you to register today. Registration will last until November 15th.
