Signing of agreements under the compensation scheme for fishermen has commenced

The process of signing agreements between JV Equinor and Polenergia, implementing the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects, and the fishing community has begun. The agrement conserns on a transitional compensation for vessel owners whose h access to fishing grounds has been limited due to the construction of offshore wind farms.

The rules of the compensation system were developed through extensive consultations during a series of meetings in March, July, and September 2025. At recent meetings in Łeba, Ustka, and Jarosławiec, the companies presented the key principles of the system. Vessel owners were able to submit the required documentation at a mobile office and obtain answers to their questions.

To date, fishermen have submitted nearly 150 applications, including approximately 60 from owners of recreational vessels and over 80 from owners of commercial vessels. The process of receiving and verifying applications is conducted in accordance with the highest standards of reliability and transparency.

The first part of the compensation agreements has been sent to shipowners. Further agreements are being prepared and will be systematically forwarded to eligible fishermen. During the preparation of the agreements, formal changes were made to their content, which do not affect the total amount of compensation or the general rules. They only clarify legal and organizational issues.

The agreements have been prepared separately for each of the companies, i.e. for MFW Bałtyk II sp. z o.o. and MFW Bałtyk III sp. z o.o., with compensation amounting to 50% of the amount for each of them. The signed documents will be the basis for issuing invoices and paying compensation.

All persons who have submitted applications and require additional explanations or information about the status of their application are welcome to contact us.
