Equinor and Polenergia supported important summer events in Pomerania

The Słupsk County Harvest Festival, picnics in Pęplino, Lędowo, and Duninowo, and the Łeba Festival – this summer, Equinor and Polenergia actively participated in five events in Pomerania, which provided an opportunity to meet with residents and tourists. The investors' stands, full of attractions and engaging activities, have encouraged discussions about the future of offshore wind energy and the Bałtyk projects.

Equinor and Polenergia have been engaged in the life of Pomerania for years, recognizing that the success of offshore wind energy projects involves building lasting relationships with residents and supporting the development of the region. Last weekend, the annual Słupsk County Harvest Festival took place, during which investors once again invited residents and tourists  to join shared activities. The Bałtyk projects booths offered attractions such as a Wheel of Fortune competition with prizes, bag painting with marine designs, and coloring books and games for children.

The Bałtyk projects stands attracted great interest also during earlier picnics in Pęplino, Lędowo, and Duninowo, as well as at the Łeba Festival. They drew the attention of residents and tourists alike, offering attractions that provided an opportunity to learn more about the Bałtyk projects. A variety of activities were prepared for both children and adults.

Participants could make use of, among others, a cocktail bike, which allowed them to prepare juice using their own muscle power, took part in workshops on creating eco-ships, and creative painting of fabric bags. There were also competitions with prizes, questions during the Wheel of Fortune, and art and educational games.

The construction of offshore wind farms is a strategically important project that also carries responsibility towards local communities. That is why we attach great importance to direct dialogue and to being actively present at regional and local events. – says Andrzej Popadiuk, Stakeholder Manager at Equinor Polska

The meetings offerred residents and tourists a possibilityto familiarize with issues related to offshore wind energy and the Bałtyk projects. Through educational elements, participants were able to better understand and appreciate the importance of energy transition for the region and the country. All activities were guided by the investors' willingness to listen to the local community.

The number of people interested in offshore wind energy and its impact on the region continues to grow. Events like this are a valuable opportunity for us to listen to the opinions of the local community and respond to their questions. Residents were particularly interested in information about offshore wind farms, the schedule of work on the Bałtyk projects, career opportunities in the industry, and the planned grid connection infrastructure in the region – notes Marta Porzuczek, Director of the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Department, ESG Coordinator at the Polenergia Group.

Equinor and Polenergia are jointly developing three Bałtyk offshore wind farm projects  with a total capacity of up to 3 GW. The installations, located off the coast of Łeba and Ustka, will supply over 4 million households with clean, renewable energy. A modern service base for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects is under construction in the port of Łeba, with its opening planned for 2026. The facility will create several dozen jobs for qualified specialists.
