New career perspectives
Construction of the Baltyk wind farms will create about 10,000 direct and indirect jobs throughout the project cycle. The next few decades will be a period of high demand for workers related to the preparation, construction, operation and decommissioning of wind farms.
of estimated labor demand
Offshore wind farms offer unlimited career opportunities for professionals in a wide range of fields: from technicians, engineers and programmers to lawyers, financiers and marketers. As part of our Flagship Program "Maritime Competence Academy", we are conducting initiatives to improve the skills of personnel in the country's offshore energy industry.
Professional areas in demand in offshore wind
A unique training program for students
"Setting the Course for Offshore" training program is dedicated to students of technical schools, classes specializing in renevable energy. Program participants are the winners of the competition "My Future with Offshore Wind", organized in invited schools in accordance with the program organizers' requirements.
The program is practical in nature and is delivered by managers and experts from the offshore industry. Participants gain unique insights about offshore wind farm projects, visit companies involved in their development, meet leading organizations and experienced representatives of the offshore industry. The training develops the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of employees in the offshore wind energy sector, outlines career development paths, and enables participants to assess their own aptitude for professions related to offshore wind energy and renewable energy.
The program is implemented in partnership with Pomeranian Employers, Polish Offshore Wind Industry Chamber, Rumia Invest Park, and the Pomeranian Offshore Wind Energy Competence Center.

Program schedule
The opening session of the program was held at the Maritime Culture Centre of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. The participants presented their competition projects entitled ‘My Future with Offshore Wind’.Organizers and partners of the program presented their activities. At the exhibition “The Baltic Sea. A Sea of Green Energy”, hosted by Equinor and Polenergia, the students were introduced to the history and environment of offshore wind energy, the offshore wind farms construction process, and the implementation of the Bałtyk offshore wind projects the exhibition “The Baltic Sea. A Sea of Green Energy”, hosted by Equinor and Polenergia.
Safety is a top priority for Equinor and Polenergia, for the Bałtyk projects, and for the offshore wind industry as a whole. The first practical training session was held at the Inter Marine Education and Training Centre and focused on GWO BST – Basic Safety Training. The programme included training modules in FA (First Aid), WAH (Working at Heights), MH (Manual Handling) and FA (Fire Awareness). In addition, courses in BTT (Bolt Tightening Training) and ART (Advanced Rescue Training) were presented. Participation in the session allowed students to experience the scope of certification training required for employees in the offshore industry.
During the Offshore Expert Panel, students explored the realities of the offshore wind energy sector from the perspective of industry practitioners thanks to representatives of Equinor, Polenergia, the Polish Offshore Wind Energy Chamber, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Hitachi Energy, Seaway7, and MEWO. The meeting presented global and Polish development scenarios as well as future trends in offshore wind energy.
Students also learned about available career paths and employment prospects in the offshore sector, including opportunities at the Operations and Maintenance Base for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects in Łeba. The panel provided an opportunity to gain specialist knowledge directly from experienced managers and experts in the offshore wind industry.
