Students Join the “Setting the Course for Offshore” Program

Students from technical schools in the Pomeranian region, specializing in renewable energy, have embarked on a unique educational journey into the offshore wind industry. Launched by Equinor and Polenergia, the “Setting the Course for Offshore” program opens the door for young people to the world of offshore wind – one of the fastest-growing sectors of the Polish economy.

The programme is delivered in cooperation with partners: Pomeranian Employers, the Polish Offshore Wind Energy Chamber, Rumia Invest Park, and the Pomeranian Offshore Renewable Energy Competence Centre.

Participants were selected from among the winners of the “My Future with Offshore Wind” competition, conducted in invited schools in accordance with rules developed by the program organizers. The submitted projects demonstrated a high level of knowledge among students as well as their strong interest in pursuing a professional career in the offshore wind sector.

Participation in the program enables students to gain insight into the offshore industry throughout the entire lifecycle of offshore wind farm projects. Over the course of five months, participants will visit manufacturing companies and survey vessels, learn about port logistics, take part in technical workshops and simulator-based training sessions. They will also meet managers, specialists, and industry experts, explore modern technologies, and learn about everyday work in the offshore wind sector.

“The ‘Setting the Course for Offshore’ program offers young people a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the realities of offshore wind energy. This exceptional experience will allow them to assess their own interests and aptitudes and, as a result, make informed decisions about their future career paths,” says Andrzej Popadiuk, Stakeholder Manager at Equinor.

Participants have already completed their first activities, including an opening session at the National Maritime Museum, a visit to the exhibition “The Baltic Sea. Sea of Green Energy” prepared by Equinor and Polenergia,

and GWO Basic Safety training at the IM Training education and training centre, providing a foundation for safe work at sea.

Over the course of the program, students will acquire practical knowledge and skills while engaging with the sector that plays a key role in the energy transition.
