Equinor and Polenergia have signed an agreement with DeepOcean in cooperation with the Polish company MEWO S.A. for seabed surveys for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in Poland.
Under the signed contract, DeepOcean's flagship survey vessel, Edda Flora, will be mobilised to carry out the main scope of work.
DeepOcean will conduct geophysical seabed surveys of the export and inter-array cable corridors, using, among others, a dedicated survey remotely operated vehicle (SROV).
The work scope also includes surveys to map the seabed for potential unexploded ordnance (UXO). The subcontractor responsible for this part will be the Polish survey company MEWO, which will utilize its vessel Amber Cecilia.
The activities, aimed at ensuring the safe and efficient execution of work for laying subsea cables, have been ongoing since December 2024.
The Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms are a joint venture of Equinor and Polenergia, with a total capacity of 1.44 GW, which is enough to power more than 2 million Polish households. These projects play a key role in the implementation of Poland's energy transition.
