Equinor and Polenergia celebrated the International Wind Day together with the residents of Redzikowo
Dozens of people visited the stand of Equinor and Polenergia during the Day of the Redzikowo Resident, combined with the celebration of the International Wind Day. It was an excellent opportunity to present to the local community the projects of offshore wind farms Bałtyk, the benefits of the development of renewable energy sources, as well as to answer the questions and doubts of residents related to Baltic investments.
Equinor and Polenergia, which jointly implement offshore wind farm projects in the Baltic Sea with a total capacity of up to 3,000 MW, have prepared numerous attractions for this day. They were to bring knowledge about offshore wind energy closer. A large dose of information was provided by, among others, the wheel of fortune and competitions with prizes, and the youngest - coloring books or assembling models of windmills.
Participation in the celebration was also another opportunity to meet with residents as part of the social dialogue conducted by Equinor and Polenergia. Regular consultations make it possible to update the knowledge of the local community and administration on the implementation of offshore wind farm projects in the Baltic Sea along with the infrastructure used to evacuate power. Representatives of investors provided information on projects in the field of current works, investment schedules and details of onshore connection infrastructure. They discussed issues related to renewable energy sources and talked about the opportunities and benefits of the development of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea, including education and career paths in the offshore wind industry.
- Participation in this event, important for the local community, is an expression of our commitment to the life of the Municipality, where the transmission infrastructure from our wind farms in the Baltic Sea will run. This time, the opportunity to meet and listen to the voices of the inhabitants was the annual holiday of the Resident of the Redzikowo Commune, which fell on the International Wind Day, but we have more of these occasions and we do not give up on any of them. The Wind Energy Council is an excellent opportunity to promote and transfer knowledge about wind energy and the benefits of renewable energy, emphasize the representatives of investors.
The investments carried out by Equinor and Polenergia are an important part of the green transformation of the Polish energy sector, which assumes the construction of 18 GW of capacity from offshore wind farms by 2040. Among them are three Bałtyk wind farms with a total capacity of up to 3,000 MW. The renewable energy produced by them will power over four million Polish households.
The two most advanced projects: Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 - each with a capacity of 720 MW - will be located at the height of Łeba, at a distance of about 37 and 22 km from the shore. The farms are scheduled to be launched in 2027. The third wind farm - Bałtyk 1 - with a capacity of 1560 MW, which is to be built in the second phase of the development of Polish offshore wind, will be located approx. 81 km from the coastline, also at the height of Łeba. Energy from the offshore farms will flow via cables to land to connection points at the Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne substations in Wierzbięcin and Krzemienica in the Redzikowo commune. The onshore infrastructure corridor will run underground through the municipalities of Ustka and Redzikowo so as to preserve the tourist and landscape values of these areas.
