Equinor starts construction of offshore wind service base in Łeba.
A new chapter in the history of the city and the region has begun in Łeba, where wind and sea have shaped the landscape for years. On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the cornerstone was symbolically laid for the construction of the Bałtyk 2&3 offshore wind farm operations and maintenance base. This strategic investment by Equinor will contribute to strengthen the region's position as an important offshore wind energy center in Poland, providing opportunities to develop the labor market and cooperate with the local supply chain.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, key stakeholders, the base's contractors and representatives of Equinor and Polenergia, who are partners in developing the Baltyk 2&3 offshore wind farms. Symbolic coins and a local newspaper were placed in a specially prepared time capsule, alongside the foundation act. A souvenir prepared in this way for future generations, completing the tradition, was walled up under the construction of the new operations and service base in Łeba.

The new base will ensure the operation and servicing of the Bałtyk wind farms for decades and be employed by highly qualified specialists.
- Today in Łeba we are laying the cornerstone for our new operations and maintenance base. This is not only a symbolic step, but also the beginning of a new chapter in the development of offshore wind energy in Poland. The base under construction will be a state-of-the-art operations and maintenance center for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms. This investment will not only strengthen our operational capabilities in the region but also create new jobs and contribute to the development of the local economy. We believe that this emerging infrastructure will enhance the country's energy security. Let this cornerstone be a symbol of our joint work in building a sustainable future - says Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, Country Manager Equinor Poland.

The operations and maintenance base, to be built by Erbud, will be built on a revitalized port area. A modern, environmentally and people-friendly office space, a remote command and control center for offshore wind farms, a warehouse for spare parts and a wharf for mooring vessels will stand on the site of a former shipyard. Preparatory work on the site of the future base has already begun in late 2024 and early 2025. Construction of the facilities is scheduled for March 2025, and the facility will be put into operation in mid-2026.
The design of the base was prepared by the B-CA architectural office in Gdańsk. The architectural concept is to create a building that is climate-neutral and makes maximum use of the potential of renewable energy sources and locally available raw materials. In this way, Equinor emphasizes its commitment and contribution to the local community and economy.
