Teaching today means shaping tomorrow Offshore lesson plans

Offshore workbook - Bałtyk. The sea of green energy

At Equinor and the Polenergia Group, we believe that education on offshore wind energy is essential to Poland’s ongoing energy transition. Pomerania is emerging as a center for this transformation, with the infrastructure needed to service offshore wind farms now being developed in the region. This makes it all the more important to build early awareness of offshore wind and inspire young people to develop skills that may influence their future career choices. To support teachers in this effort, we have prepared lesson plans dedicated to these subjects. They help students understand how wind is formed, how offshore wind farms operate, and what career paths are available in this sector. Students will also learn about the economic, environmental and community benefits that offshore wind development brings to the Pomerania region.

The lesson plans were created in cooperation with education and offshore specialists. The materials are prepared for three age groups (elementary school grades: I–III, IV–VI and VII–VIII), with the subject area and level of difficulty adapted to each stage of education.

Meet Leon and Pola – your guides to the world of offshore wind

Leon and Pola are the characters who accompany students as they explore the world of offshore wind energy. Together, they show that learning is not only about theory, but also about asking questions, seeking and discovering answers. Their presence turns each lesson into a journey filled with engaging and inspiring insights.

Each lesson plan is a complete set of information and teaching activities, including:

Equinor And Polenergia For Education

Equinor and Polenergia Group, the companies developing the Bałtyk 1, Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farm projects, are actively involved in offshore education as part of one of their five flagship programs – the Academy of Maritime Competence. The program aims, among other objectives, to increase public understanding of offshore wind farms. One of its components is the set of educational plans presented here, designed to help explain how offshore wind farms operate and to highlight the development opportunities within the offshore sector.

The initiative for the Bałtyk projects draws inspiration from Polenergia Group’s proprietary program
Play Green with Us!®, which has been successfully implemented for years in around 100 schools.
