New opportunities for companies in the offshore industry

What standards do suppliers need to meet to become part of Poland's booming offshore wind sector? What competencies are necessary to service and maintain offshore wind farms? These are the most important issues discussed at the Supplier Day organized by Equinor and Polenergia developing Baltic offshore wind farm projects together. The meeting was attended by 80 companies.

Previous events have provided a platform for dialogue between the main suppliers for the Bałtyk 2 & 3 projects and companies willing to join the supply chain. At the last meeting, it was Equinor, as the partner responsible for technology, innovation and marine operations for both farms, that was looking for companies interested in cooperation.

– Each stage of the Bałtyk projects requires the involvement of specialized suppliers. Now that the investments are entering the next key phases, we are intensifying our search for partners who can support us in servicing and maintaining the offshore wind farms – says Andrzej Popadiuk, Stakeholder Manager at Equinor Poland.

During the meeting, entrepreneurs had the opportunity to learn about the offshore wind farm projects and their servicing and maintenance strategy. The discussion also covered the operational and service base in Łeba, which plays a crucial role in the implementation of the investment. Special attention was given to the requirements and qualification procedures for potential suppliers, which are key elements in establishing long-term cooperation. A significant part of the event was the individual sessions, where contractors could speak directly with investor representatives and discuss specific areas of collaboration.

– The dynamic development of offshore wind energy in Poland presents companies with an opportunity to get involved in the creation of crucial infrastructure for the country. To actively support the creation of a strong and competitive supply chain, we organize Supplier Day meetings, which serve as an opportunity to establish new partnerships and as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience – emphasizes Krzysztof Wedeł, Deputy Director of the Offshore Wind Farm Department at Polenergia Group.

Nearly 300 companies have already participated in previous Supplier Day events for the Bałtyk 2 & 3 projects.
