Polenergia and Equinor invite to the next information meetings for fishermen

Polenergia and Equinor continue their dialogue with the fishing community regarding the construction of offshore wind farms. At the beginning of July, they invite interested parties to information meetings to present the temporary compensation mechanism. The meetings will be held in Łeba, Ustka and Jarosławiec for fishermen conducting fishing and recreational activities in the area of fishing squares: L5, L6, L7, L8, M7, M8, N7, N8.

The meetings in Łeba, Ustka and Jarosławiec are a continuation of the dialogue with the fishing community, which aims to jointly develop solutions to compensate the impact of investments on fisheries and to search for possible forms of coexistence between fisheries and offshore wind energy. In March this year, Equinor and Polenergia held 6 meetings with fishermen during which underlying assumptions of the temporary compensation system were discussed, and information pertaining to the fishermen's activities was gathered.

The aim of the July meetings with the fishing community is to present the solutions contained in the document "Livelihood Restoration Plan for marine components" (LRP), including the temporary compensation scheme adopted for the Bałtyk 2 and Baltyk 3 projects. The scheme aims to support fishermen who fish in designated squares. The compensation scheme presented by the Companies is transitional, which means that it will be in force during the construction phase and/or until statutory solutions are in place. 

The LRP document was created taking into account the information and suggestions provided by the participants of previous consultations organized by Polenergia and Equinor. Investors point out that the high commitment of fishermen and their openness to sharing their experience was crucial for the development of the LRP.

Long-term cooperation with the residents of Pomerania is one of the priorities of both Companies, which regularly organize meetings with the local community to talk about important issues in the context of the implementation of the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms.
