Nearly 60 thousand visitors to the exhibition "Baltic. A sea of green energy"

Almost 60 thousand people, including Prince Haakon, the heir to the throne of Norway, have so far visited the exhibition "The Baltic Sea. A Sea of Green Energy" at the Maritime Culture Centre of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. The exhibition prepared by Equinor and Polenergia has been presenting the topic of offshore wind energy for two years, and now it is gaining an additional dimension when its protagonists, the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore farms developed by both companies, are already under construction.

The high number of visitors to the exhibition "Baltic. A sea of green energy" confirms the interest in the topic of offshore wind energy.  Thanks to the exhibition, everyone can take a look behind the scenes of the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects. Currently, wind turbine foundations are being installed in the Baltic Sea with the participation of one of the largest installation vessels in the world - Thialf. The Bałyk 2 and 3 offshore farms, built by the international concern Equinor and the Polish Polenergia group, are among the largest renewable energy projects in the country. Together, they will introduce 1.44 GW of capacity into the Polish system, which will allow to supply electricity to 2 million households.

– Thanks to the exhibition, you can imagine the scale of the investment and learn about the process of creating offshore wind farms – from planning, through construction, to operation and service. Visitors can see an interactive mock-up and even touch authentic elements of infrastructure, such as marine cables, transformer station equipment or take a close look at models of installation vessels – says Andrzej Popadiuk, Stakeholder Manager, Equinor Polska.

The exhibition, located on the third floor of the Maritime Culture Centre, is also complemented by an educational zone, where workshops, classes and meetings are regularly held by museum educators and experts from Equinor and Polenergia.

– Offshore wind energy is one of the most important new sectors of the Polish energy sector, but for many people it still remains a little-known topic. That's why we focus on education, interactivity and fact-based conversation. Through the exhibition "Baltic. A Sea of Green Energy" we show how offshore wind farms are built, how energy is produced in this technology and what importance it has for energy security and economic development of Pomerania and the country – comments Marta Porzuczek, Director of the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Department, Polenergia Group.

The exhibition is especially popular among schools and families with children. It shows in an accessible way how offshore wind energy is generated and how it reaches households. The tour is complemented by stands explaining how to save energy in practice and how to make more conscious, pro-ecological decisions on a daily basis.

The exhibition "Baltic. A Sea of Green Energy" can be seen at the Maritime Culture Centre, a branch of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk, at 21/25 Tokarska Street. In the summer season, from June 15, the museum is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
